hello.
i just beat hangar 18 on first try after not touching guitar hero for weeks. i really think your guitar hero skills develop and brew inside you even when you're not playing. i've been stuck on it for about 2 months now, so i consider this my greatest recent achievement.
oh yeah, i got a new job as an engineer, so thats pretty cool too.
also, i think i am going to have to buy either an xbox360 or ps3 to play a dynasty with the illini so i can develop juice, mendenhall, benn, etc. the ps3 $100 is gonna make my decision difficult.

hello.
went to visit chras this weekend for mardi gras. it was freezing, but still fun. quotes of the weekend:

i was also involved in two interesting wagers. one was with dudo, after he repeatedly said he wanted to get a kabob. i bet him that there's no way we would find any kabobs walking around. however i did not realize we had passed multiple kabob stands already. needless to say, after 5 more minutes of walking we found another kabob stand, and i bought him one. on the bright side, they were damn good kabobs.

but i did win $10 from anuj that charles barkley would beat dick bavetta in that race, so that was good.

hello friends,
i'm one of those people who feels weird when i do stuff on weekday nights. i dunno, i guess i feel like i should be sitting at home, dreading work the next morning. just kidding, but i do feel like it messes up my work week rhythm when i do stuff on weekdays. not that i don't wanna do stuff, i just feel weird. ...i'm so anal.
so i had kindof a weird week last week. i did stuff during the week, and i had to work a night shift and just bummed around home mostly on the weekend. wednesday i went to watch the illini-northwestern game. what can i say, they won, and it was mildly entertaining. and it was only mildly entertaining because we were making fun of #52 for most of the game.
thurrrsday was pretty cool. i went to see lily allen at the metro. she now joins my fabled group of girls that have gone through a meteoric rise in stock for me, joining auf der maur, chili, paz, etc. except this is probably the fastest someone's stock has risen for me. allow me to illustrate:
week of 2/4/07-lily allen stock watch
before sunday - have vaguely heard of her
sunday morning - watched tivo'd performance of her performing on snl, enjoy her songs-interest piqued
sunday night- find out she's performing at metro - thinks it could be interesting, mostly because the metro is a good place to watch a concert, decide to go
monday - youtube and wikipedia her - interest increases
tuesday - download album mp3s - interest rising rapidly
wednesday - buy cd - listen multiple times, google her - interest rises to alarming levels
thursday - almost suffer frostbite trying to find a way into her concert
so i had a chance to buy a ticket for her on monday, but like a dumbass, i waited to try to get them from the box office directly so i could bypass the ticketbastard fees. good plan, except i find out wednesday that they sold out tuesday night. dammit. by then my interest in her was high, so i was pretty sad :(
now the way i got into the show was a pretty interesting story. i tried getting tickets on craigslist, but that fell through, so i decided to go and buy some scalped tickets. i figure there would be a bunch of people selling. so you can imagine my disappointment when i got to the metro, and there was no one milling around outside. everyone was just walking in. booo. i ended up standing outside and walking up and down clark for about 45 minutes in a feeble attempt to get tickets. and it was definitely below 0 with the wind chill, so i was feeling pretty sad and pathetic at this point. i decide if i went through all this, i would pay frickin $100 for a ticket at this point.
then i see a homeless guy saying he's got some tickets to sell. i've never been happier to see a homeless guy. he says he'll sell them for $45 (face is $20), and to give him the money. i say ok, let me see the ticket first. he says he has to get them from his "friend", and he'll be back. frickin homeless guy. so i figured he'd be no help and tried waiting around for someone to sell one to me for a while.
10 minutes later, he comes and asks if i have my money. and i say i'm not giving him any money unless he gets his ticket. apparently he found some guy that was trying to unload his ticket. yayyy. the homeless guy was like "ok, $40", but the other guy said "screw this guy, i'm just selling it for face value," and we just made the transaction ourselves. needless to say, homeless guy was pissed. so i ended up gettin my ticket for $20 and scurried inside before the homeless guy could stab me and take my money or something. so everything ended up working out.
the show was awesome by the way. she's a decent singer, but she performs well. and she's also hilarious. here's a picture i got to take with my phone:
