helloo.
you know, i haven't really done any april fools jokes on anyone ever. the biggest extent to which i've ever done anything for april fool's is probably just lie about something, then say "haha, april fool's" back in grade school or something, eg:
me: did you hear scottie pippen died?
someone: no, really?
me: haha, april fools
actually i think i remember doing that in college. anyways, i always thought i would be able to think of some pretty good and elaborate april fools jokes, but i never did any. one important characteristic of all good april fool's jokes is that they have to be kind of mean. a really good april fools joke has to take on at least one of the following characteristics:
1. piss someone off
2. get someone's hopes up of something good happening, then have it come crashing down
3. scare someone
4. embarrass someone
there's the rare occaision where an april fool's joke that causes physical pain is funny, like the one where bart shook up that duff can of beer mad stylie, and homer opened it, and the explosion put him in the hospital.
well, i finally did my first one at work today, with the help of a couple co-workers. we chose #2. i won't explain it in detail, because no one would understand it, but it was pretty good. basically we fooled (april fooled, as it were) most of the office in thinking there'd be circumstances in which our jobs wouldn't be gone for a long while (it's not really hard to play a joke on the whole office, since there's like 25 people). it was kind of mean, but most of them thought it was funny. anyways, the key is to find the right amount of meanness for it to be funny and to not be a cock.
i didn't write about the illini all season so i wouldn't jinx them. one of the worst days of every year is when the illini get eliminated from the tourney. now that they're done, and it's been a few days since they lost, so the usual huge disappointment has worn off. anyways, even though every year i think they will end up as national champs, they had a good season this year. if when they started out crappy this year, and someone told me they'd end up as big ten champs with a sweet sixteen run, i would've taken it. everyone returning next year, so they'll be better hopefully.
yearly kerry wood prediction: 25-4, 1.83 ERA, 298 Ks, 1.02 WHIP (goin a little conservative this year)
lates.
