hello.
went to see garbage yesterday. might as well post about it for posterity.
longtime mcpheeny's blog readers probably know that garbage was on my top bands list, which i had posted a contest for a couple years ago, and shirley manson was second on my top female performers list, which i also had a contest for. and i would link you to those posts, but frankly, its embarrassing to read how bad my blog used to be. i realize you can just click on my archives, but eh. not that my blog is any good now, but at least it's not as corny. anyways, to summarize: garbage is good, shirley manson is wierdly hot, and i was excited when i heard about concert.
i got there kinda early to get a good view. it paid off, because i was so close, i could see shirley's nipples poking through her dress. not kidding. as it got closer to them coming on, i was surprised to notice how much anticipation i had for them to come onstage. anyhoo, they started the show playing "queer", which most of you know starts off with her singing "hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind".
i proceeded to cream in my pants.
overall, i was pretty impressed with the show. i always thought they were more of a studio band, but they were pretty good live. they pretty much played everything you'd think they'd play: push it, happy when it rains, i think im paranoid, stupid girl, when i grow up, etc. plus a bunch from their new album. it was different from any other concert i've seen, kinda like what i'd think a titney or gaguilera concert would be like, as in the focus was on shirley for the whole show. the other guys were content just to stand back and play, while she did all the showmanship stuff. this is probably the hottest reincarnation of shirley manson also, with her wavy long red-hair, topping the cute, shoulder length-haired, version 2.0 era shirley, and butch-haircut shirley of a few years ago. which just reinforces my observation of how bad hair can ruin how hot you are.
i'd reccommend you all to see them at the metro next week, but it's sold out. sucks for you.
