helloo.
due to the complex nature of my cubs/sox relationship (read my blog from 2 years ago for a summary) i've been as muted as i possibly can about my feelings during this sox run. it's kind of hard being in my position as i thought i would be scoffed at for not being a "troo" fan by sox fans, and be labeled as a traitor by cub fans. luckily most of the sox fans i know are aware of my unique situation.
i do think there are a lot of casual fans in chicago that are happy when both the cubs and sox win, which is fine, but i don't think there are many "hardcore" chicago baseball fans that follow each season closely that are happy when both the cubs or sox win. ::poetry moment:: a rare breed, indeed.
so when uribe gunned out the last astro to win the series, it felt like how i thought it would. happy, but not as happy as i would if say, illini basketball, the bears, or the cubs won. but...still happy. it was an impressive season, and there hasn't been a lot of sports success in chicago recently. just like i thought everyone should've been on the cubs bandwagon in '03, i just wish the whole city would be happy when either one of our teams win. that's never gonna happen, and i'll be ridiculed for my view, but thats what i think, dammit.
and here is the real reason i made this post, please watch this video that i'm dedicating to the sox.
lates.
